Society is based on precepts and codes and the ten commandments like it or not is the most influential code in western society. Although to be fair you never did define what society you were talking about in your post. "I guess half the people on this board wouldn't be alive right now if it weren't for modern medicine." Have you polled them and the others who are not here? More people die in North America from something called malpractice than firearm misuse. Lives are also deliberately terminated by methods of modern medicine. "How many lives are saved by the hood on the street?" I don't know. Great question. "Do you honestly think people will stop buying these because recreational drugs become legal." No I don't and that is utterly irrelevant regarding the illegality of a plant or substance. "...it makes no sense at anything beyond a quick glance." I'm afraid all we as humans get is a quick glance. There is no need or time for lengthy dissertations on a topic that is easily solved. You said earlier you rejected Catholicism as a crutch. Society and rule by committee is another crutch. Over all people will most always do the wise thing that is in the best interest of their health and well being. If you believe they won't do the wise thing then you might as well pack it in. To be clear, I'm not talking about Taleban society I'm talking about western society. I certainly don't want to impose my morality on others and I don't want the majority or minority interests of western society imposed on me. I know I can't memorize the entire legal code. Every child knows by heart the ten commandments.
