Have dined at Panera at Tysons Corner, VA, location on two occasions.....much better than that sugar-drenched, cholesterol-laden donut joint a few miles away. <g>

Fishweed, for Panera to do the Krispy Kreme, it would require hundreds of brokers calling customers and pushing it on them . . .like they did with Krispy Kreme. Remember their spike had everything to do with introducing the IPO with too low a float. It was a brilliant way of raising tons of cash for a mediocre company. I especially liked the way they shifted over to the NYSE, to keep them from getting daytraded as much.

Krispy Kreme is nothing new. . . having been around since what the 30's? Wheras Panera is a totally new business model and product. If you haven't tried it, you won't know what I am talking about. But keep your eye closely on same-store-sales. . . .because that is the key to whether we end up with the next Starbucks or the next Boston Market.
