This company advertises various credit services which they claim are designed to provide assistance to consumers with poor credit histories improve their rating. Pricing for service varies depending on the individuals requirements. The company claims to offer credit restoration, debt management services, and on-line access to each clients credit report as part of their service. Complainants allege dissatisfaction with billing procedures and with the company's inability to remove negative items from their credit reports. One customer complained his monthly service charge was increased without notice or authorization, and deducted from his bank account. Another complainant alleges he signed an agreement and paid a $40 fee, plus a monthly service charge of $19.95 to remove a single derogatory item from his credit report. The item was not removed, and the customer requested a refund. The company responds to complaints by providing a refund and explanation of charges. By law, information stays on your credit report for seven to 10 years. Accurate negative information can only be removed by with cooperation of your creditors, and this usually involves paying all or some of the debt. If you believe your credit report contains erroneous information, you may dispute the entry by calling or writing the reporting agency. While in dispute, the negative item may be removed temporarily from your report, however it will be added on again if determined to be valid. The California Credit Services Act requires companies advertising credit repair services to register with the Attorney General and post a $100,000 bond. Even if registered, the Act prohibits the practice of collecting payment before providing services. As of our last verification on 2/26/2002, this company had not complied with registration requirements.
