Hi Chip,

It sounds to me to be the ushering in of a national sales tax. It is simple to administer as many states have the process already.

It would tax consumers and not savers which would be a great boost for savings/investment.

In a very real way - consumers ultimately do pay all the taxes of a corporation.Taxing the products bought would be a windfall as it would be true number.

Think how much income is lost by all the BS loop holes that lobbyist get for this industry and that.

I think it really could very efficient and therefore much more productive.

All of Europe has VAT - value added taxes - it works.

In Texas we used to have an Ad Valorem Tax.Auditors used to come by the first week of January. They'd classify and tax the value of vehicles.

Dealers used to hide vehicles on their ranches, kink any and every way possible. Then the state just made us collect a factor of all salas, pay them twice a month - it was a huge windfall for the state as it was applied uniformly - without all the games going on.

I think that's what O Neill means by saying efficient.

JMHO
