I think you are way off base here. A poll that came out today shows that folks are more upset with Bush right now about the energy mess than they are with Davis. Bush has been snubbing his nose at California since January 20. Dems control the legislature and governor's office, so they control redistricting. There is one Republican holding statewide office, the Secretary of State. The GOP spent tens of millions of dollars here, Bush was here constantly, and he lost by more than 10 points. Not fertile GOP territory. They would be better off focusing on midwest swing states.
