Now maybe the democrats can stop this ghoulish death watch on poor old Sen. Thurmond. Their continually sticking a mirror under nose to see if he's still breathing was bad enough but the jumping out and yelling BOOO at him all day long was really bad for Senatorial decorum.

This is just too good to be true!...as I've said a thousand times before, Bush may have won the election (although that's a stretch, ain't it!), but he's about to lose all his power...Jeffords' seeing the light will result in Bush's conservative judicial nominees being in the crapper (sorry Johannes P, I know toilet humour is one of your favs!), Bush's reform of the Medicare program now in question, will put a wet blankie on his plans to build a national missile-defense system, to say nothing of the havoc it will wreak with Bush's tax proposal,,,,yipee!!

Zel might feel a bit uneasy about switching parties since, to put it diplomatically, Strom and/or Jesse my leave the Senate before 2002, and the Dems would be back in control even with Zel's act of disloyalty. He's better off using the threat of a defection to push his agenda within the Dem party.
