I appreciate the exemption, and I will not say that there is never anything on my side that I find distasteful, such as occasional homophobic outbursts. But the implication was that to be socially conservative is to be a nut. Although I do not want to dictate people's business, on several social issues I am on the conservative side. So I guess I want to remind you that there is more to conservatism than just "immoderation"......

Karen, "nutters" is just an Anglicism for "nuts" in my experience. The quaintness makes it seem a little milder here, to me anyway. You've started using words like "prat", "git", "jumper", "nutters", etc. Too bad that one didn't make 42. I don't remember "jumper", but the American editors went so far as to substitute the totally non-resonant "Sorcerer's Stone" for the classic alchemical "Philosopher's Stone" in the title of the first book, so I imagine there was a lot of stuff dumbed out of the American editions.
