I highly doubt AMD will use RDRAM at this point.

Not using rmbs is AMD's main weapon against Intel.

AMD has a rmbs license however.

capt rocky 1,

is amd intending to go to rmbs rdram at any point? it would seem to be needed to compete in the intc gig wars. yes i am a rmbs bull. amd using rdram would be great news for rmbs. no?

I don't think anybody other than Intel have RDRAM on their road maps for PCs. As far as track record of INTC since it adopted RDRAM vs. AMD which didn't, here it is.

Anyone noticed that Micron's PC2100 DDR SDRAM price is now on par with PC133?

Go to pricewatch.com and see

Cheapest Micron PC133 29$ (128 MB)
PC2100 32$(128 MB)

I guess this proves the no extra manuf. cost arguments, but also that demand is quite low for DDR Modules (and mobo)

Edit : actually you can get 128 MB Micron PC133 for 23 bucks but 32$ is still awesomely cheap.

AMD has no current plans to go to DRDRAM. However, I am sure that, if DRDRAM ever really does drop to within 5% of the cost of DDR SDRAM, AMD will consider it.
