But to do the "briefcase trick" you still need a regular cellular modem on the PALM or other device, or in the briefcase on the laptop or cell phone there that the PALM device communicates with and through. HANDspring is totally PALM OS, the Palm Operating System, is the defacto standard, approx. 90% market share, SONY CLIE and most gaming hand held devices all use or will port through the PALM OS, so ith over 10,000 software applications written in the PALM OS, any other device maker, including MSFT, have a lot of catching up to do, and in technology years, you could say "centuries", which is a barrier to entry for them that I doubt they can overcome, and anyone other than MSFT has no chance of overcoming this "BARRIER TO ENTRY" and achieve any kind of "CRITIAL MASS" to make it worth head on competition. The result, eventually PALM will make as much money on its PALM OS royalty stream for licensing the PALM OS as it does for its own PALM devices.
