Tom,

re: Java & Wireless Data Thin Clients from King Nokia

<< I don't know anything about kJava, and my guess is pJava is pico Java >>

Thanks.

Nokia is evolving 4 mobile thin client types or product categories (as they refer to them) for 2.5G GPRS & 1xRTT and 3G (EDGE & WCDMA):

• Entertainment: Games & Music & Messaging - FUN
• Imaging phone: Imaging & messaging & browsing - FUN
• Media phone: Full browsing & access to media - FUN
• Communicator: Full browsing & corporate Data - RATIONAL

Alternatively the "User Interface Categories" for each of these thin client types is described as:

Cost Driven Platform

- 96 x 65 display & XHTML, kJAVA, MMS

Size Driven Color (Display) Platform

- 128 x 128 display & XHTML, kJAVA, MMS

One-hand Operated Color (Display) Feature Platform

- 176 x 208 display & XHTML, kJAVA, MMS, & EPOC

Two-hand Operated Feature Platform (Symbian Epoc Communicator)

- 640 x 200 display & XHTML, pJAVA, MMS, & EPOC

You will notice that "pJAVA" is only used in conjunction with the Symbian Epoc Communicator, but "kJAVA", whatever it is, is used with the other lower end Symbian reference design.

Unfortunately Jorma didn't drill down on this or differentiate.
