Zeev- while I couldnt agree more about not mistaking Intel for an 'old stodgy' company, I think in the same arguement- I can say that anyone who invests in Intel based on who/what they were over the last decade could also live to regret it :)

The landscape has changed tremendously over the last 2 years, and Intel no longer commands the 'power' they once had over the industry.. That 'power' afforded them ridiculous margins, and product cycles that did nothing but hurt the consumer by squashing the competition and technology advancements were stalled for max. profits..

Intel has a ton of cash to make all their dreams come true.. and I wont argue with that because thats most of the battle.. but the ground they lost in the last 2 years is going to be difficult to regain and I wouldnt put a dime into their stock until i see a clear indication that they are once again the same company they were a few years ago..

2 years ago, Intel could walk into our company and tell us to do this or that, and we would bow and kiss their butts.. All we wanted was that Intel certified sticker..To say this isnt the case lately is an understatement. Matter of fact, I see more and more references to memory being compatible to AMDs line rather then Intel.. Even more interesting is the growing perception that Intels product is inferior to AMD (I actually am in this camp having worked with both for ages).

Perception is everything and it took alot to change the perception Intel so cleverly built for itself.. Should be fun to watch them try and turn that around. I for one hope they fail, and fail miserably.. but again- I wont put my money against them.. :)

Rambus.. Im not looking to 'egg' you on, but do you seriously still have a soft spot in your heart for Rambus?? are you sure your not just bringing up feelings for this old money-making machine vehicle of yours that should be left out of trading? :)

I said it last week, and ill say it again- I think your too optimistic about the semis.. I think it can and WILL get alot worse in the quarters to come.. The latest BTB was no surprise to me, and whats coming in the next few quarters wont be either :)

...guess you can say im hedged by shorting the semis.. considering my REAL job involves selling memory all day and THATS not going to well as of late :) :)

Zeev:

the resurrection of the bu$$ should also occur).

Even without winning a court battle somewhere in the world. The Italian judge today overuled the court appointed technical experts and took a Judge Payne "non multipexed bus" copout.
Do you think Appleton threatened him what he did to Gary Harmon, RMBS CFO, at that Christmas party or did the powerful labor unions in Italy threatened to break his legs if he shut down production at MU DRAM plant as RMBS had requested.
