Michigan Consumer confidence number revised upward for May:

Perhaps the consumer can turn around this economy yet?

However, not sure if the housing market is turning soft. New home sales were down.
We'll see if the same is true of existing home sales.

The Greenman read off a litany of weaknesses in the economy last night. All assume he
will continue rate cutting at the June 26/27 FOMC.

Michigan May Sentiment Index Rises to 92 From 88.4 in April

By Al Yoon - 05/25 09:58

New York, May 25 (Bloomberg) -- Consumers were more upbeat about their
finances and economic prospects this month than they were in April, according
to a study by the University of Michigan.

The university said its final index of consumer sentiment for May was 92, above
April's 88.4 reading, people with access to the study said. The May preliminary
figure was 92.6.

The index, set in 1966, has a base of 100. Increases or decreases from that level
indicate Americans' degree of comfort with their finances and the state of the
economy.

The university's final index of current economic conditions was 102.2 in May,
compared with a preliminary 102.1, and 98 in April. The final index of
expectations was 85.4, compared with a preliminary 86.5 and April's 82.2.
