We have not seen real weakness, LOSSES. During the down cycle that started in '95, LRCX's book value went from $22 to $10. There is a tendency to treat the semi-equip cycle with a confidence akin to what we feel about the setting sun rising the next day. It is comforting and an ego boost to think we have found a riskless way to create wealth. It is not dissimilar to a gambler thinking a run of good luck is due to his "system." I don't think the "bubble" has finished teaching investors about risk. I hope people are wise enough to keep their risk comfortable.

, Applied has been able to consistently shrug off continuing weakness for 8 months now

115 to 34 is "shrugging off"?!?!

"As the clock ticks, odds increase that positive signs in the sector will begin to emerge. If it doesn't happen next month, it appears investors are willing to wait. If it doesn't happen the following month, they'll still wait. Every month that passes will simply mean we're getting closer and folks may become even more intent on holding (or even adding to their positions)."

What you are seeing is the REVERSE of what occurred last year AFTER Jonothan Joseph's "call". Despite the fact that AMAT (and other companies) went on to report record earnings in successive quarters followers of Joseph (or his apologists) were saying that we were getting closer and closer to the reversal in earnings trend... AND THEY WERE RIGHT. They had to be right because it was inevitable that a reversal would occur.

And a REVERSAL (upwards) in the earnings trend will occur here as well. As we go forward the time when the reversal will occur is getting closer and closer and INEVITABLE. As the say, "the market looks ahead". Stay tuned.
