All critical aspects of current Intel/Wintel PC platform is covered under related NDAs. Mom and PoP cannot design an AMD or Intel-compatible platform without NDA, unless spending years of inverse engineering, which renders all this useless.

So what you're telling me is that I can't design a mobo around current platforms using the technical information Intel freely provides to developers. Specifications, Application Notes, Design Kits, Gerbers, Bug fixes, BIOS, Compilers, etc., etc. (Browse their web site).
If I try and run into trouble Intel will insist on an NDA before they'll help me out.

Not a good way to run a business, IMO.
