I guess this time more leading edge capacity will be required to generate more wafers / chips to be processed by the back end. ;^)

More explanation is required. Back end are usually the first to see the benefits of a recovery.

The “front end” “back end” turn in business relationship may be different then earlier cycles.

Business relationships of front to rear most recently were capacity related. If there are true signs of recovery this time, it would be in technology and size, not capacity.

If we are in a technology and size upturn cycle, I would think all of the FAB equipment would be needed at some minimum level so the dies could be tested and packaged.

So if 300mm and copper are our next move, than each equipment company must be present in the FAB.

Or maybe not.
