i think so, yes. talk was that lots of stale fund long positions got flushed out. note: the gold bull markets are ALWAYS driven by the speculative funds...and in some metal bulls the commercials have had their heads handed to them, e.g. in palladium. there they changed their mind only AFTER the rally had already covered considerable ground. right at the '97 low, they held a historic record short position.
and they were short at 400 bucks AGAIN...and got squeezed big time.
