Seeq and ye shall founder

Quite a jump to SanDisk."

Indeed. But I think the first proposed name for the flash company was "SunDisk," which at least sounds better. My recollection is that Sun Micro objected, so the name was changed to the weirder variant.

Folks may not know that the Intel spin-off in Oregon, Sequent, was originally to be called "Sequel." At least this is what we were hearing, circa 1983 or so. Supposedly Intel objected and hence the weirder "Sequent" became the name.

Some of the lunch attendess yesterday were founders of Xicor, an early Intel spin-off. Legend always had it that Xicor stood for "Ex-Intel Corporation," but neither the Grand Nagus nor the Supersonic Samurai have ever confirmed this for sure.

Then there's Seeq, as in "Seeq and ye shall founder."
