Israel is a Nation established for one primary reason and it isn't to tolerate diversity. Palestine is an old nation that is also a monotheistic culture with a strong religious mission. Both worship the same God as Christians and profess tolerance in this regard. Anything is possible but this region is not USA suberbia by a long shot. "applied globally" We can not apply solutions to other countries. "People just have to want a solution." They both want the same solution. Unfortunately, the prefered solution is the anialation of the other side. "The" amicable solution must be a solution that honors religious fundamentalism. You also can't buy a solution through foriegn aid as we have done in the past. You can't apply USA secularism here; trust me on this. If you are serious about seeking solutions, you have to clear those cobwebs from your own thinking. Personally, I don't think most Americans are willing to consider that. In each case religion is a 24 by 7 way of life. There will not be a separation of "church" and daily life; like there is here in the USA and as exemplified by the street you refered to. The solution, if found, has to be a good neighbor solution (separate but friendly). The solution has to be a religiously founded solution, as well. It has to be seen as promoting the Nation of Israel without being seen as conquering Islam or useless desert nomads or what ever. Its not the USA. It is not like the USA and its not going to be like the USA. Originally the Western Allies thought Israel would be a sort of Western Annex in the Middle East. Maybe it was at first. It is now something quite different and our foot hold is loosening there. I hope I have given you food for thought.
