Windows 1.0 really didn't have an ISV community and supporting applications around it, which is unlike Microsoft today.

I agree a "first" release tends to have a lot of things that eventually get worked out. First releases out of the gate tend to be on the slower side as you correctly pointed out, but I think the situation is quite a bit better now than 1.0, given that the ISV community already exists. I think the ramp should be much faster.

Don't forget Foster (although you may be including that in P4), and Tualatin. I especially like Tualatin because it has so many uses.
