Israel cannot go nuke. People are too close together. Iraq has not got delivery nor can it risk return fallout. 1000 miles downwind of the Bikini atoll 25 megatons there was 740 Roentgens per hour inside of 24 hours. It takes 250 Roentgens per week to kill. Dust in the desert is extreme. A one megaton bomb in Jerusalem would kill thousands as far away as Iran in one week and would go on killing for decades. Let's face it, the Arabs would not sacrifice all the Palestinians for a few Jews. They are not that crazy. Historically the Arabs are loathe to go to war, the Iraq - Iran conflict notwithstanding. Egypt had five times the officer corp, army, and weaponry of any other Arabic State, and they got beat bad. Syria is not interested in attempting an Israeli conflict, and they know more about it than anyone else except the Egyptians. So who? Iraq? Not ready. Iran? Too far away, no airforce. The Israel conflict is an attrition thing with rhetoric sauce. If the Palestinians are smart they will not let it escalate, because it pushes statehood back ten years to never. But they have always demonstrated a lack of strategic insight. Religion and emotions over common sense. The grand Irony is that with Arabic States controlling the Middle East, the Palestinians would be low level slaves in a Iraq or Syrian dominated state. The other Arabic autocracies or Kingdoms would not let them have one mote of autonomy. Their supposed enemies, the Jews, are the only people who can guarantee them self determination! All they have to do is bury the hatchet, put a muzzle on the extemists, and they have Palestinian paradise with US and Israeli guarantees of autonomy, trade and state integrity! The Palestinian is loathed and feared, in truth, by other Arab states. They are the most educated and progressive of Arabic groups. NO way other Arab states will really help them to statehood. Much too dangerous and independent a group. Pan-Arabic Palestinian support is just a convenient means of bashing the US and IT'S control of oil, politics and the region in general.
