<There is no doubt that in any single case, if the money is provided, the finest health care resources to be found anywhere can be made available in the U.S.>

You mean in the cases where the condition has become chronic. Pre-chronic medicine is only beginning to become recognized in the U.S., fortunately it is catching on fast among younger more open minded people... the failed attempt [supreme court decision against the AMA] by the AMA to shut down chiropracters a turning point?

<1) How much? (ie, what percent of GDP do we allow to be allocated to health care) and 2) Who is to do the allocating?>

Neither party seems willing to deal with these basic problems... nor is there necessarily a correct answer ["no one over 80 gets hearts?"] and hence health care costs are set to continue their death spiral. But don't worry, they're only what 10% of CPI??? AND hedonically adjusted prices are plummeting anyway!

EVERYONE GET THE FALLACY OF HEDONIC PRICE ADJUSTMENTS NOW????

Gleevec, aka glivec, is Novartis' new baby for CML - very effective on chronic myelogenous leukemia and now undergoing clinical trials for a number of other tumors, e.g., prostate cancer, glioma - very promising, and has been fast-tracked.

Novartis has an official site, but it seems to be screwed up:

Someone who has posted on this thread from time to time - not one of the regulars - is undergoing clinical trials with Gleevec and my prayers are with him. My father's third wife died of glioma a couple of years ago - there was no real cure then. So my fingers are crossed.
