I rather like the idea of re- building the Temple. However, the Haredim, those who are especially fundamentalist Jews, would not abide such a project, since the Messiah is supposed to raise the Temple, and that could spell enormous trouble. The motivation problem is, as you say, the troubling thing. I am not sure it is soluble without the political evolution of surrounding Arab states, but I believe that it may be in the next generation. For now, I do not expect a major breakthrough.......
