The reparations after WWI were onerous, but nothing like it was imposed after WWII. Germany took it upon itself to pay (token) reparations to the survivors of the Holocaust and their families. In fact, the Cabinet during the First War was Socialist, which was a patriotic party, and had several Jews in it. The Nazis evolved the theory that the Jews in the Cabinet had sold them out, for how else could they have lost. Also, patriotic Jews served with distinction in the Wehrmacht, some of them highly decorated. In fact, the Nuremburg Laws had exemptions for Jewish war heroes. It is ludicrous to say that the Jews of Germany, most of whom were highly assimilated and patriotic, showed no sympathy for Germany's decaying condition. What is true is that racial ideologues of Hitler's sort do not need evidence to put forward their dirty theories. By the way, Jews got into banking early because Christians were barred from moneylending, which, until the early modern period, was considered usery, no matter how modest the interest rate. The mere fact that there were several prominent Jewish banking families (notably the Rothschilds) was sufficient to stimulate the imagination of the conspiracists. Most Jews, especially in Eastern Europe, were poor farmers and rural tradesmen, not financial wizards. 90% of world Jewry lived in the areas of Poland and the Soviet Union that Hitler sent to the gas chambers. Some survived. Most didn't......
