On IBM's silicon-germanium chip: "Dataquest analyst Stan Bruederle said one of the possible beneficiaries of the new technology is Applied Micro Circuits, which has been using IBM's silicon-germanium process, while rival Vitesse Semiconductor has focused on chips based on gallium arsenide.
