So, we are left with the assumption that you believe *no* tax rate is too high. And complete socialism is possible under your belief system. As I said before, the meaning of "rich" is irrelevant, and I have *already* defined, in the simplest form I know how to, what level of tax is necessary. Your assumption that I believe no tax rate is too high is simply incorrect. The tax rate is too high only when it keeps people from innovating... if you tax 100% of, say any income over $200k, then that would not give any incentive for innovation, other than out of the goodness of their heart... which is nearly nonexistent. Therefore, I am completely against a 100% tax rate. 33% is too low considering that 1) we still have way too many people under the poverty line, etc, and 2) we have a $5.6 TRILLION national debt, with 20% or so of our annual budget just trying to make the interest payments. Clinton was finally starting to pay that debt down, but out of the blue here comes Mr. Moron Bush who decides that us citizens deserve "our money" back. Well, maybe us citizens should pay off our massive debt too?? Or is Bush merely trying to buy some more votes? Nah... he's sending us a $500-600 check out of the goodness of his heart. Yeah, right... and I'm Bruce Lee. Of course Cuba, USSR, North Korea, etc have failed because of their lacking incentives to innovate. I believe in Capitalism strongly, but I also know that minimum standards must be set for our citizens... and for citizens of the world for that matter. I do NOT believe in pure Capitalism where monopolies are allowed to form, where few children are allowed the opportunity to learn, few people are given the chance to compete or put their innovations to the test, and few consumers make enough money to buy & utilize new innovations. The PC and the Internet would be but fantasies if we lived in a pure Capitalism country. I'll tell you one thing I would like to see from the books of pure Capitalism, which so many Republicans are hypocritically against: the free flow of labor across national borders. - Zen
