Great article about the benefits of Chevron's acquisition of Texaco which seem to be under-appreciated in their stock prices thus far.

The article makes the case that Chevron's valuation is compelling.. It asserts the combined CHV-TX could be as efficient as ExxonMobil and could command a comparable P/E multiple. It says combined CHV-TX income should jump substantially in 2002 from the pre-merger estimates for 2001.

I remember reading in the merger announcement about an impressive $1.2 billion in estimated savings from the combination.
