<How many stocks do you feel should be in a well balanced portfolio... 10?>

That would be fine for a 80K commitment. A little word about overweights. Actually you kind of hope that happens, cause it's a sign you have a winner in there. For instance, one of my largest positions is MR, but that's because it has tripled in the last few months. I've made the judgment the story isn't over, so I'm making no changes. In this sector you may make almost all of your profits in a quiet year in one or two names. Another example of how I try and manage positions is Nevsun. Here I got lucky during tax loss selling in Dec. and doubled down on a stinky bid at 14. My first purchase was 52, so my average cost is 33. The stock surged to 44 last week and I sold 20% (of the high cost stock for taxes). I want to maintain this play, but I just wasn't interested in being heavily overweighted in it. So the difference between the two is just a judgment call. I just continue to do little calculus of risk-reward. I'm not claiming to even be very good at it but it's my method. In fact my personal history in investing is to be early and then sell big winners too soon, but that's probably fairly typical.

GSR is risky but some recent news may help it to survive:

How to get not valid advice while thinking its great stuff.

Or, how to get the answer one hopes for.
Or, how to look until a good answer is found.
etc.
Just a way one like I was able to con myself
and sell myself a bill of goods that sounded good
but delivered not good stuff. I did this by going to
each penny gold thread and looked for "good talk."

As I later discovered, to do this for penny companies
one will visit a thread and unless the company hit
a gold mine an found that gold mine, the company
will currently be in the toilet along with all others,
and depending when you visit the thread, either
you find super-hype-hope posts or doom&gloom
posts while neither reflects the true nature of what
is really happening with the company as its in a
state of non activity waiting tor a better gold price
or to hopefully hit pay dirt in its hole drilling.

Thats why this thread is so much better,
the over hype or over doom guys don't post here,
or atleast only once and leave.

You asked about a share that can increase ten fold.

A Si member very well respected based on his history
of posting on threads, a Dr. Zeev Hed, once told me that
something like only 1 in a 100 or a 1,000 that starts out
as a penny share under a dollar will explode as and return
that x5 or x10 or x100. I don't gamble, but i have taken
some not needed cash and played this game of chance.
I have recently even taken $150 using e-trade's $20 for
any volumn for penny stocks and from the Pink Sheets
pinksheets.com brough 15,000 ***** shares
for total cost of $170. You have to admit that buying
a share in a company of one penny has to reside in some
place where the Twilight Zone & Outer Limite fear to go.

You did ask for "names", and unlike some who will not
suggest any company for reasons that they will fear your
return once they lose all investment, I have no fear as to me
I will tell what I see and understand it to be "information"
that must be considered as such and not as truth.

This penny company Tyhee has a thread created by me.
I have recently mentioned it on this thread in the last month.
