Please give me the part number of Compaq's 8 CPU AthWiper server !!!
Or IBM's 4 CPU AThWiper server.
Or Dell's 4CPU AthWiper server.
Or Unisys's 32-way AthWiper server.

It looks like the areas where Intel has no competition from AMD has dwindled down to these boutique systems. Somehow, I have a feeling that we will keep hearing about them a lot in the near future from you.

Wrong choice of words, boutique. 4 CPU and 8 CPU server sales are growing by leaps and bounds. The last couple of Intel webcasts have had slides showing them, which I don't have handy, but they are very significant. Also, the 4s and 8s get a couple grand each for the big cache Xeons for Intel sales.

Intel has a bunch of other no competition from AMD products, like the low power notebook chips, embedded CPUs like Xscale and Strongarm, and all of the comm products.

Re: "it would be instructive to determine what percentage of revenue Intel derives from this niche, vs. the percentage of revenue that Intel derives from desktops, laptops, and 2-way workstations / servers?"

I can't provide that data.

Before you start, it would be instructive to determine what percentage of revenue Intel derives from this niche, vs. the percentage of revenue that Intel derives from desktops, laptops, and 2-way workstations / servers?

Here's a guess. (% of revenue)

desktops 42.8%
laptops 25.8%
1/2 way servers/workstations 9.2%
>2 way servers 5.3%
Communications/everything else 16.9%
