OFF TOPIC: Wow, that is so great! Seems to me that Ryun(or maybe even Lyndgren) set off a wonderful 20 year period for American middle and long distance runners. You know when I was in Illinois in 1977, 3 guys from the same area of Indiana were under 8:41 in the two mile and one of them was Salazar. And then, the whole thing dried up after the guys from the late '70s matured and then got too old. Out here, the state high school champions have been running 4:30's in most years, and not under 4:20. Really slow. They don't do the work necessary at all or even close. Events like these will cause everyone to realize what is possible.
