I can't speak for Owl, but I'm somewhat amused by you moralizing here. Calling a company that wouldn't cave to the bus people a bunch of Nazis is a cute rhetorical trick, but not one likely to win many points on the rational argument front.

As for the Siemens "clean hands" argument, that's something you made up too. Straw man arguments are always popular on SI too, though. What I said, precisely, is

"I may have missed something, but I've never seen Owl do anything at all like the Infineon-Siemens-Nazi "argument". I think you're way ahead of him there. Too bad the brilliant Rambus lawyers didn't take that one to trial."

Dearest Most Gentle Zeev,

You are missing the point, Owl was taking that "Pure me" attitude to which I responded logically, you brought up the "clean hands" of Siemens, to which, once more I responded factually, then you come up with a complete non sequitur. No the solution if the party to use the system and fight out their differences in the courts.

If you will take a moment to revisit my "attempted agitation:"

I believe you will find that the "Pure me attitude" was, in verity, less a grab for the "high moral ground" than a stated preference for the "short and stubby," as opposed to the "tall and stately." True, much is lost in the translation from Owlese, but I am convinced that you can find this "point" if you maintain perspective.<G>

As to the "logic" of your reply denoting the legacy of the "murderous" corporation, I admit to a woeful inadequacy. Clearly you have given this a great deal of thought. I myself take the lazy Owl's flight path. I start with the proposition that no "incoporeal" being, one capable of neither death by bleeding nor tears of regret, should be granted the privilege of "equal justice," over and above that of,... oh,... say your average forest raptor for instance!<vbg>

Then again, perhaps this is why one of our very few differences, if any there may be found, is this notion of finding "solutions" in a Court of Law. Like corporations, judicial systems are yet additional proofs of our social imperfections and morality "tails." I would add to your reported "facts" of Siemens' guilt, the additional "fact" that Germany, as well as Japan, Italy, Russia and yes, even Scottsboro, Alabama, U.S. of A, all had their Courts and their "Legalized" solutions. It is a sad commentary, but true.

Frankly I would just as soon take my chances in the Court of BB Opinion.<vbg> At least its much less dependent upon wealth and power.<Hoo Hee 8-> Which, interestingly enough, brings me right back to my aversion to the "Tall and Stately." ...Ironic isn't it. No matter where you go, there you are.<Ho Ha 8->

P.S. Do I get a partial "credit" for hurting The Legend's head parts?<Ho Hoooo 8->
