I think the breakdown that you posted (of what kind of machines are deployed at what tier) is reasonable, given certain performance expectation, or expected load. Not every installation has that kind of expected load (I am talking real world, not Dot.Bombs with money to throw around).

Some installation will need more, some will need as much as you said, and the vast majority will need less. I think a good curve to describe this market is y = 1/x, where y axis is the price=perfromance and x is the number of installations.
