PT,

The only data point I have noted on server type processors was that in 1999 Xeons were 15% of revenue but 4% of units.

As Tony pointed out, Xeon is only a part of the story, since a good percentage of 2 way servers use plain Piii. The Piii used in servers / workstations may contribute the other 6% for the total of 10% unit share of workstations / servers. (which is what TWY estimated).

I think the workstation win would be sort of a symbolic win for AMD, since this segment (subsegment) is supposedly dropping. Well, actually, so is the server market. I think it will take some time to digest the dot.com buying spree. I wonder how they resell equipment from dead Dot.Coms and if the un-needed equipment that was purchased (based on unrealistic expectations) will re-enter the market, and affect current sales. The good for Intel is that a year old server probably will have lost 75%+ of it's market value.
