If you can't get it or it is cost prohibitive, what good does it do you to be able to deduct it? I believe that was the point of Amy's post.

Oh, you mean it would be like a federally subsidized healthcare system? Great idea, we could call it National Heathcare or maybe even socialized medicine.....doesn't sound very republican does it?
