Why produce U235 that radiates at a killing level and then try to neutralize it, when the advanced technology that MIGHT be able to neutralize it will surely have refined the existing methods of renewable energy: sun, water and wind.
in fact, today, those methods could compete on cost with fossil fuels if they were mass produced. in 50, 100 years nuclear power generation will be irrelevant, and we will all be off the grid. THAT is the main issue. the present power structure wants nuclear because it requires large investment and centralized production which only they can produce. once you have a solar house, you don't need them.
