"...Also the idea that ALA will be mean CDMA in Europe seems to be wishful thinking..."
----------

Chaz,

I entirely agree.

At a larger scale, even prospective disappointments and failures, for both GPRS and wCDMA/UMTS, will not effect or alter Europe's course.

Which is South.

But I believe, in light of prospective GPRS and wCDMA/UMTS disappointments and failures, there is a strong chance that the world's other major markets may veer from the course plotted by 3GSM.

In two ways:
1) Conversion by TDMA operators, and 1x overlays on existing GSM networks...
2) The evolution of wCDMA specifications in ways presently unexpected ... as operators demand timely, viable technologies... and as Asia becomes more and more dominant in 3GPP proceedings...

2002 will tell. I think LA and China are the venues to watch.

What percentage of infrastructure contracts did Qualcomm enjoy versus LU, MOT, NT prior to selling to Errorickson?

Was it really that lucrative?

And who could blame IJ for selling to the world leader in this area at the time, again hoping to crack Europe.

Maybe the China contact Errorickson will open eyes to other business they could be gleaning.
