The LAN would be extremely slow....it would take forever...but it can be done,.....

Have the same problem. My mp3 files on a notebook which doesn't have a USB port....and my husband's notebook does, but is missing for most of the day...

So rather than torture myself with the chores involved with the transfer, i have decided to live with the napster music and not burn cds...

Can do several things in this case:
a. If the two PC's are on a network, you can use ftp (file transfer protocol) to copy files. ftp has to be enabled on the machines.
b. Can use a zip drive to backup on one PC and copy on another.
c. If the machines are configured with windows networking, then you can create a shared folder on one macine and copy all the data to that folder, then you can do a "search computer" from the other machine, once the computer is found, you will be able to drag and drop fles from the shared folder. Trick is to get this to work, I have had problems doing this on one LAN but if two machies are on different lan's it works well. A 10 mbps LAN would copy the files very quick.
d. Copy on a CD using a burner is another option.
