Bill:

"As the AMD share gets bigger and bigger it gets more and more costly to dell to stay 100% intel.
Will intels price drops stall AMD in their surge? I do not think so as it is not so much a price issue as a performance issue.
Intel parts are increasingly being labelled as second rate goods by more and more SD shops as well as various OEMs."

The "spry Athy" now has the track record supporting it as a proven product...The P4 is anything but proven...Consequently, AMD's margins have remained fairly stable while the P4 margins keep shrinking in effort to locate the purchaser's threshold...My guess is that AMD is assuming an increasingly large share in the top end as the P4 continues in with its architecture-related challenges...With any near term pickup in worldwide PC demand, supply constraints at the top end may become apparent as ramping of AMD and INTC top end products combined, may preclude order fulfillment...(A tough scenario to imagine, I know, in the wake of today's so far depressed (and depressing)trading or lack (AMD volume well below normal levels) thereof...
