Even now, in the digital economy, the shortages created by sudden demands are making for very sweet packages for those willing to train in programming and the like.

Now just how do you suppose people can get training in programming, welding, etc if they are living paycheck to paycheck working 2 jobs to support a family?? You're only emphasizing the importance of progressive concepts. In this digital age, it is more important than ever to help create skilled workers for the next generation. I believe it was Boeing I recently read about where they must pass up opportunities merely because there are not enough skilled tech workers to go around. Again, pure Capitalism would never work... even if you ignore those who must live on the street, you cannot deny the importance of educational opportunities, healthy consumers, the solid opportunities to turn ideas into reality, and its positive, necessary affect on our economy.

Thank you for the elucidation. I tend to jump right to what I feel is an obvious conclusion.
