Where are they gonna dump this text oriented VALUE chip?

Both PCS and VZ have said that they are going with 1X-144kbps in the first stage. This seems to be the MSM5105.

Only PCS has committed to a second stage of 307kbps. This seems to be the MSM5100.

Obviously part of the problem with the Korean SPs is that they felt there was not enough difference between 95B at 64kbps and the MSM5105's speed.

You seem to be saying two things here. First, QCOM slipped in its delivery of the faster (MSM5100) chip and second, that they mislead their Korean customers.

I cannot confirm the first, but am willing to take your word for it, until I hear evidence otherwise.

On the second point, I agree that misleading your customers, if true, is a serious mistake. On the other hand, it could be the Koreans only fairly recently woke up to the fact that they had a marketing problem and needed the faster chip to sell a more differentiated high-speed service.

Eric L,

why don;t you just post "I think Qualcomm are a bunch of idiots". Would be more dirdct and less whining on your part.

No, what she posted is that the Koreans, of their OWN WILL ordred 5105 chips, got their applications running and made a market decision to build a phone out of it. but they were probably late to market on t he phone development and the 5100 was early, due to being pushed by china to get this chip out and now that it is here, the Koreans want to back out of their order commitment and change to the faster one.

I think that your trying to push this sinister thing out there when it doesn;t exist. give it up.
