I was just writing a little Krispy Kreme story for you and when I read it, decided that I could get sued so I passed.
LOL

My Dad died of colorectal cancer. Nasty stuff. Weighed just 68 lbs when he went.

My cancer was first diagnosed when I was 21 years old. I was dating my husband then and it came as a shock. It was localized on the end of the cervix and was treated with cauterization. I was told to have yearly exams and was "free" for 3 years.

By this time I was in the midst of making plans for my wedding and at the yearly exam of my 24th year, I once again showed positive on my smear. They treated it by removing the end of my cervix surgically and hoped that they would remove all of the pre cancerous tissue. At this stage I was diagnosed as having "Cervical Carcinoma in situ". I went ahead with my wedding plans and we continued to keep an eye on things.

My first smear, 6 months later was negative. My next smear, 6 months later was positive. The "Carcinoma in situ" was back.

By this time I was 25 and we (my husband, doctor and I) decided that it was time to have a child so we hurried up and did that, all the while testing me every 3 months.

I managed to have a heathy baby boy and my doctor said, now is time to remove the uterus. My husband and I had other ideas.

Carcinoma in situ spreads very very slowly. I was 26 by this time and my doctor urged me to have the surgery. His warning was this; If you become pregnant, and if your cancer becomes "full blown" we will have to abort the baby and remove your uterus. We decided to go for it, made haste and got pregnant again.

Had to have those stupid, damn, pap smears once a month for the entire pregnancy. Delivered a healthy baby boy on March 5, 1979 and went in for my hysterectomy 29days later.

Been free ever since. No radiation, no chemo. Easy as that. We are so lucky that we got two great and wonderful sons out of the deal. Wish we could have had a girl or two but life's little offerings can sometimes stand in the way of dreams. I tell myself that maybe someday I will get a little granddaughter to ease the way for me?

Women want daughters, Men want sons.

Not a real dramatic story and everything worked out so well. I am living a princess story simply because I am spoiled rotten and have everything a woman could want so I don't complain.

Take care

Reene ;-)

Forgot to tell you how I felt.

At 25 you are invincible and I was. I knew that I was going to be ok, I just knew. Don't ask me why, it was some kind of sixth sense. Sometimes I think I have a powerful guardian angle. My guardian angle has saved my life 3 times. Either that or I'm a cat on her 6th life. <gg>

Cancer is a devastating condition as you well know. My dad took 9 months to die of it. I will never forget the look in his eyes the last time I ever saw him. Saddest look I ever saw in a human beings eyes. I miss him every day. M
