I hope she doesn't mind, but I've used this analogy a few times privately lately.
Last fall I got to spend some time playing, no more like watching, SusieQ play blackjack.
She'd bet 5 bucks, 5 bucks, 5 bucks, 5 bucks, and chat, and have fun, and bet 5 bucks, and 5 bucks....then suddenly after a couple of good hands, it's $100, $300, doubling down, splitting.....next thing ya know, it's back to 5 bucks, 5 bucks, 5 bucks...etc and chatting and, 5 bucks....
....but, and it's a big but, she's up a grand or two, when it's back to the 5 bucks.
A few weeks ago, the beaten down Naz under a buck were hot...so you play them. Then it's energy, alt fuels, biodiesel, actually anything to do with energy...so you play them...go with the flow, the rest of the world wants to jump on them, you do too...if real lucky you are in first...or just take the middle out of them..don't try to hit the bottoms and take off the tops, just take what you can get out of the middle...safe that way.
That movie was great, I love it, it's fiction, but like all good fiction, based on some facts...one thing for sure..I'd rather not be the "picker" too dangerous, you're wrong and everyone jumps on you...
I'd rather follow, that way, if the thing tanks, LOL it's someone else's pick...and if it flies... hey, I was smart enough to jump on for the ride.
And sometimes, people will post news, or whatever....everyone thinks that's where they entered...but some smart guys, who have been caught...the only one in the sucker, cause you were the only one that liked the news...post, then wait, see if others like it..and if they do, and it's running, big deal pay a couple pennies more...and take out the middle....
then watch later, as everyone else, takes credit for the "pick"...pick schmick, $$ in the jeans count.
When the cards are hot, you play big, when they go cold, you back off....same thing here. Strike when the iron is hot..or whatever the heck the saying. |
