iBEAM Streams First-Ever E3 Webcast for Electronic Arts
Industry Event Illustrates How Companies Around The World Save Money Using iBEAM Activecast Solutions
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2001--iBEAM Broadcasting® Corp. (Nasdaq:IBEM - news), the leading provider of streaming communications solutions, and Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS - news), the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, today announced a successful partnering to deliver EA's first Virtual Tour Webcast of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The streaming video webcast, delivered via iBEAM's Intelligent Distribution Network, allowed EA employees around the world to participate virtually in the excitement of E3, without having to fly to Los Angeles.

As part of the agreement, iBEAM's Activecast(TM) technology was used to create a password protected virtual tour of E3 for those EA employees who did not attend this year's show. For the first time, iBEAM's webcast enabled EA viewers to watch the action from two live ``booth cams'' during the course of the show. Other attractions allowed viewers to download an entire streaming audio and video Virtual Tour of highlights and interviews, get international comments in four languages from the show floor, view EA's giant video wall, and watch the fast forwarded, complete EA booth set-up.

``When the world's leading interactive entertainment software company wanted to stream the world's leading videogame event of the year, they came to the world's leading provider of streaming communication solutions, to ensure success,'' said Drew Henry, Sr. Vice President of Marketing for iBEAM. ``Today, the single largest broadband audience is the corporate workforce,'' Henry continued, ``and iBEAM's Activecast streaming solutions expand the power of Internet to help companies communicate more efficiently to this captive audience. In today's market, this kind of innovative webcasting makes good economic sense and is becoming a standard for corporate communications around the world.''

``E3 might have been in Los Angeles this year, but it was a worldwide effort that got us there, and we wanted to share the experience throughout the company,'' said Marc West, Chief Information Officer for Electronic Arts. ``Without iBEAM streaming the E3 event, many of our employees would not have been able to enjoy the results of their creations and the powerful impact we made on the industry.'' West continued, ``now, through iBEAM's streaming technology, we can bring these shows to everyone, without accruing large tradeshow expenses.''

EA's Activecast ``tour de force'' was the virtual streaming video tour of EA's booth, which began with a special thanks to all employees for adding to the strength of EA's upcoming lineup on the PC as well as next generation consoles. The high-energy tour took the viewers to all corners of the booth, showing off current titles such as Madden NFL(TM) 2002, and James Bond In...Agent Under Fire(TM). This year's EA Activecast presented viewers a selection of preferred media, either Real Player or Windows Media Player, as well as three connection speed choices, enabling the show's excitement and other pertinent information to be delivered with greater technical flexibility and precision.
