15:00 ET ONI Systems (ONIS ) 31.70 -2.26 (-6.6%): -- Update -- Technical -- Issue unable to get any traction out the contract win (see 10:02 comment) but it has held at an important support in the 30.6/30.1 area (50 day simple ma, late April/May lows). The ability to remaind above here and the oversold intraday indicators allow for some gains. However, follow through beyond 33.15 is needed to improve the short term tone. Daily indicators remain a concern with a failure at resistance leaving the door open to a retest/breach of support. The next level of interest on the downside is at 28.35, the 50% retracement of the April rally.

14:48 ET Interneuron Pharmaceutic. (IPIC) 6.47 +0.81 (+14.3%): -- Update -- Trading resumes.

14:46 ET Juniper Networks (JNPR) 40.56 -5.83 (-12.6%): -- Update -- Sources at CIBC World Markets telling us the firm is reducing estimates on Juniper to $0.22 from $0.25 for Jun qtr and to $0.92 from $1.00 for FY01 (First Call at $0.24 and $0.96); cites weak demand and expectation that company will not make any new product introduction at Supercomm next week; does not see new router introduced until the fall and is cautious on stock in the near-term.

14:31 ET Extended Systems (XTND) 7.00 -1.40 (-16.7%): Issue plunges in reaction to announcement company plans to hold conference call tomorrow evening to discuss business outlook for the June and September quarters.

11:39 ET Fibercore Inc. (FBCE) 5.62 +0.16 (+2.9%): Optical fiber manufacturer announces $55 mln in contracts from N. American customers to supply single-mode and multimode fiber. Product is scheduled to be shipped from 2001 through 2004.

11:37 ET Gold Sinks : The reversal of the gold rally continues; cash gold is off over $6 today to $267.60. Gold stocks being taken down: ABX -0.26, HM -0.16, NEM -0.38. Many had seen the brief spike in gold as an indication of economic recovery and an inflation threat, but it increasingly looks like yet another head-fake in a 20-year bear market for gold.

10:40 ET Oracle Corp (ORCL) 15.07 -0.54: Hearing from sources that Goldman Sachs made comments on Oracle; firm discusses the possibility of a preannouncement as early as Friday or Monday, says that if a preannouncement occurs, Oracle's EPS guidance would probably drop to $0.12 from the current consensus of $0.14. Goldman notes that a shortfall might already be discounted in the share price and sees near-term downside of only 1-2 pts in the event of a warning.

10:02 ET ONI Systems (ONIS) 32.90 -1.06 (-3.1%): -- Update -- Awarded a multi-million dollar contract with Korea Telecom to connect multiple cities across Korea. ONI's products will be distributed to Korea Telecom under a reseller agreement with Huneed Technologies.
