Yes, that would end the game, however, there are too many with a vested interest to let that happen, chief among them, the central banks. I would expect that the positions will continued to be rolled forward and when fires develop, gold will unexpectedly reach the market, ie, the russian gold for flood victims(just the possibility of gold reaching the market is usually enough).
The ones who have the ability to end the game are the producers, but having mortgaged their check books, and their souls to the bankers, they will continue to be the linebackers for the bankers.
