It happens. We have a phrase that everyone uses IlhamduliAllah. We use it when things are great...or not. It means "Thanks to Allah," or "According to Allah's Will." Most people assume you mean "good" by this response and they don't usually pry. Sometimes they do. If things are rough I hold my hands out and say "Well brother, you know...its the world not paradise. I am struggling with some things, and enjoying others." When the person gives a knowing nod, I walk away smiling.
