I vote more for investment and technology than highgrading. It is proper investment and technology which makes highgrading possible. Every mine is actually an exercise in highgrading starting with the core samples to pit design to selecting the right equipment and facilities. The primary objective is to get the highest quantity of the highest grade material processed as efficiently and as soon as possible to maximize rate of return. I would suspect an astute mine operator would do this regardless of the price of gold.
