"Sun has been reducing its server prices aggressively to compete with IBM, something that Shope speculates has contributed to its big gross margin declines"...

Lower competitive prices are a concern ... especially when you look at PC iron which just keeps getting more powerful, scalable and staying cheap. I see this trend continuing especially in the new "cost concious" economy where IT budgets need to be stretched for the best $ value.

Sun has been reducing its server prices aggressively to compete with IBM, something that Shope speculates has contributed to its big gross margin declines. Nevertheless, it's still losing share to IBM, which grew its share of the Unix market 33 percent year over year in its first quarter

I thought Sun claimed they were not seeing pricing pressure but simply a drop in demand. Is that correct? Yet here, the analyst claims they are aggressively dropping prices in response to IBM. More Sun lies??? Who to believe??
