Yup, ore grades have been going down in RSA for years (decades even) I have not, however, noticed a similar trend in most of the annual reports and news releases of North American and Australian shares. I have not compiled a detailed analysis, but it appears ore grades are about flat-to-slightly down over the last 5 years. If they were seriously highgrading, ore grades should be going up. The big thing I have noticed is improved operations (more tonnes per day), better recoveries, and better equipment. They have really made the required capital investments (bigger shovels and trucks) to get the per unit cash cost down.
