Mr GJ - Long-time-no-talk-to....

What's your latest take on a 'formal recession'?

Consumer keeps spending, however (see link) - auto's slowing...despite rebates.

Manufacturing, of course (as well as profits) have been in a recession for a long time now. Layoffs continue

On a more positive note, housing seems to be hanging in there (maybe?), tax refunds in the mail <g> & cost of energy has decreased from the recent highs.

Will corporations resume capital spending any time soon...Will consumer confidence fade............

When will companies take advantage of lower short term rates???

As Brinker has mentioned, Bush administration may have missed an opportunity (in the recent tax reduction bill) to include more of an incentive to spur on capital spending by corporations (with some tax incentives, for example)
