I think there is a lot of money sitting in money market funds (both on the consumer and corporate side). I also think old momentum trading habits are hard to break.

I do agree with you that there is still a lot of money that needs to get spent once the visibility in the economy becomes clearer. Whether that happens this year or next year is the question people are waiting to find out. Bear markets last on average 18 months. Depending on where your take the start of the current bear market, we are either still in the middle or somewhere towards the end. The difference in the two realities is were all the pain is being created and felt.

The COMPX broke a lot of support levels with ease today. This does not bode well for pre-warning season in June. Being net short may be the easier way to make money in the next few weeks.
